The Last Column | CPJ

Sparking a movement around the human cost of journalism. Made at Fred & Farid NY for the Committee to Protect Journalists.

Publishing slain journalists’ last columns one final time.

The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has been fighting for journalists’ safety for almost 40 years.

To continue its mission, we turned to the final stories and photographs of journalists killed in the line of duty.

Stories to die for.

We turned the final articles and photos of 24 murdered journalists—including Jamal Khashoggi and Marie Colvin—into a book.

The book was itself a memorial, honoring every one of the 1,337 journalists killed in the line of duty with a place on the cover.

Counting to 1,337…one name at a time.

We gave time to every journalist killed in recent history, leaving a blank space as a reminder of the many columns never to be written.
